Description

Many fine celestial objects of differing types are visible in this image and the most prominent being The Lagoon Nebula, a giant emission Nebula and HII region, M20 or NGC 6514 known as The Trifid Nebula a combination of emission nebula (the red area) and reflection nebula (the blue area) and dark nebula. Also visible are the star forming regions of NGC6559, IC 1274 and IC 1275. Open clusters M21 and Globular Cluster NGC 6544, Reflection Nebula IC 4685 to name just a few.

Incidentally I captured M8 and M20 last year using a refractor over 4 nights for a total integration time of 6.5 hours www.flickr.com/photos/terryhancock/13519138553/in/photost...
